Dubbele portie

Vandaag trakteer ik jullie op een volledig interieur. Dit omdat ik gisteren niet in de gelegenheid ben geweest om een blog te plaatsen. En als je zegt iedere werkdag hoor je dat ook wel waar te maken. Vandaar nu een kleine bonus. Plus bij het zien van de portfolio van fotografe Trine Thorsen realiseerde ik me al dat ik deze interieurs niet moet opdelen in losse berichten maar als een geheel moet laten zien. Ze zijn echt geweldig!

Today I treat you to an entire interior. To what this pleasure? I've neglected my post yesterday. I was unable to do it and feel that I should keep to my 'once every working day' promise. So today I place a bonus. Plus viewing the portfolio of photographer Trine Thorsen made me realise that I could not post these pictures in seperate reviews. They should be seen as an complete home. They're absolutely beautiful!

Opbergen in mooie behangdozen

Deze geweldige dozen komen we steeds meer tegen bij onze verschillende leveranciers. Vrolijke kleuren en retro behangetjes op handige opbergdozen. We zijn zo benieuwd wat jullie van deze dozen vinden. Laat het ons weten via een korte reactie!

Gezellig inpakpapier

Als ik iemand een cadeautje geef dan is het inpakken ervan ook een feestje op zich. Ik zoek de leukste papiertjes bij elkaar en maak een gezellig kaartje. Vrolijke lintjes erbij en je bent klaar. Zoals je hier ziet is het ook heel leuk om een mooie mand of vaas te vullen met gekleurde rolletjes inpakpapier. Dat ziet er zo vrolijk uit.

Whenever I give someone a present I try to make the giftwrapping a treat on its own. I look for cute paper and make a nice personal card. Some cheerful ribbons and you're done. As you can see in this picture it is also beautiful to keep these lovely sheets of paper in a nice basket or vase. Makes the room look cheerful.

Mooie kandelaar

Deze kandelaar is een van mijn grote favorieten van Scandinavisch design. Zeker als je em 'aangekleed' ziet zoals bij de inspiratie foto's van Rie Elise Larsen. Een strak en eenvoudig ontwerp maar daardoor juist zo krachtig.

This candlestand is one of my favourites in the Scandinavian design. Specially when you see it 'dressed'as in Rie Elise Larsen's inspiration pictures. A clean and simple design, very strong!

Kleine slaapkamer

Klein wonen heeft zo z'n beperkingen. Voor jou bijvoorbeeld geen aparte inloopkast. Maar je leert er een ding van: creatief omgaan met de ruimte die je hebt. En zo kom je vaak tot slimme oplossingen om praktische bergruimte te creëren. Zo ook hier bij deze slaapkamer uit het Zweedse Allt i Hemmet. Vanaf het kussen gezien een knus hoekje met opbergruimte voor je wekker en je boek, verlichting bij het lezen, sfeer door het behang en in de ombouw opbergruimte voor je kleding. En door bovenop wat ruimte over te houden voor mooie opbergdozen blijft de ruimte ook z'n optische hoogte behouden. Dé oplossing voor kleine slaapkamers.

Living in a smaller house has its limitations. But it also forces you to become creative in using the space you have! For instance this bedroom from the Swedish Allt i Hemmet. The wallpaper gives atmosphere, the shelves are useful for your glass of water and the alarmclock and the wardrobe around your bed gives storage for your clothes. By keeping some space above the wardrobe and placing nice boxes you keep the visual height of the room. We think this is THE solution for a small bedroom.

Kleuren spel

Een interieur samenstellen zie ik als een spel. Je schuift wat met meubelen en brengt wat humor als joker op de tafel. Om het geheel samenhang te geven ben je afhankelijk van kleur. Welke houtsoorten combineren goed en waar leg je kleuraccenten. Deze foto's van Skona Hem laten hier wat mooie voorbeelden van zien met mosterd geel als bindende factor.

Creating an interior is like a game to me. You move furniture around and bring humor to the table as the joker of the game. To give it a cohesent factor I use colour. For instance what types of wood combine well and where to you place the accent colours? These pictures from Skona Hem are a good example of succesful use of colours.

Crafty Paul

Na het lekkere recept van Sweet Paul nu ook nog even een van zijn vroegere 'crafty projects'. Hier laat hij zien wat je allemaal voor leuks kunt doen met die oude kanten onderzettertjes. Een gordijn decoreren, een omslagdoek of een lampenkapje. Je kunt er werkelijk van alles mee maken!

After the nice recipe I would also like to show you one of Sweet Paul's crafty projects. Here he shows us what you can do with the old doilies. Decorating a curtain, making a shawl or a lampshade, you can use them for anything, as far as your imagination will take you.

Recept van Sweet Paul

Een van de blogs die ikzelf graag bezoek is Sweet Paul. Een Food Stylist uit Olso die huis en haard verlaten heeft om naar New York te gaan. Een groot succes en een trouwe blogger met heerlijke 'repice monday's en 'crafty friday's. Dit is dan ook waar deze aardbeien smoothy met marshmellows vandaan komt.

Voor 2 porties:

1,5 kopje melk

2 bollen vanille ijs

1 kopje aardbeien (zonder kroontje)

1/4 theelepel vanille extract

6 marshmellows (gehalveerd)

Plaats melk, het vanille ijs, de aardbeien en vanille extract in een blender en mix deze tot er een romige egale massa ontstaat. Druk de gehalveerde marshmellows tegen de rand van een glas. Schud je shakemix nog een keertje en schenk dan het glas lekker vol. HMMMMM, heerlijk!

One of the blogs I regularly visit is Sweet Paul. A Food stylist from Olso who has left home in Oslo to work, live and love in New York. He always treats his readers with a recipe monday and a crafty friday. This is also where I found the strawberry smoothy with marshmellows.

Serves 2

1,5 cup of milk

2 scoops of vanilla icecream

1 cup of strawberries

1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract

6 marshmellows cut in half

Place the milk, icecream, strawberries and vanilla extract in a blender and blend until it is smooth. Press the cut marshmellows onto the inside of the glass. Mix it one more time and pour the smoothie in the glass. HMMMM, delightful!

Licht en sfeervol

Tuurlijk is het fijn als een badkamer praktisch is. Lekker af te nemen met een doekje en met spullen die tegen de vochtige ruimte kunnen. Maar sfeer is ook o zo belangrijk. Tenslotte is het ook een plek waar je je af en toe terug trekt om tot rust te komen. Deze afbeelding uit Vakre Hjem laat zo'n sfeervolle badkamer zien met liefde voor brocante items. Licht en sfeervol!

Of course it is convenient when a bathroom is practical. But it is just as important that you create a comforting environment. As shown by this image from Vakre Hjem where the love for French brocante is shown in decorations. Light and very cosy.

Kleurrijk en gezellig

Ik hou wel van een beetje kleur. Gecombineerd met retro prints en leuke items maak je er een volijke boel van. Het maakt een ruimte al snel sfeervol en gezellig. Deze kleurrijke woning heeft in de Zweedse FamilyLiving gestaan.

I love a bit of colour in my home. Combined with retro fabrics and nice items it makes a home very cheerfull and cosy. This colourful home was featured in the Swedish FamilyLiving.

Kunst met een boodschap

Soms ben je via zoveel pagina's en sites heen en weer dat je achteraf niet meer weet hoe je er gekomen bent of wat het ook alweer was. Zo ben ik ook op dit 'schilderij' gekomen. Ik weet nog wel dat het via een Britse site te koop is voor plm 200 pond. Teveel geld voor zo'n geweldige eenvoud. Mooi oud hout met een heerlijke lieve boodschap in eenvoudige letters. Het draait tenslotte om de inhoud van de tekst.
Alhoewel, in een gouden lijstje zou dit me toch minder raken...

Sometimes you get lost in the maze of pages and sites you visit. After a while you just don't remember where you've seen someting but you do still know it moved you. For me this 'painting' is such an object. I remember seeing it on a British webshop for approximately 200 pounds. Too much money for such simplicity. Beautiful old wood with a moving sweet message in simple font. After all, it's the words that count.

Although, would it move me just as much if it was framed in gold?

Inspiratie uit het dagelijkse leven

Photo: Eric Josjö Wat een geweldig leuk schilderij. Tuurlijk, die drie blonde koppies helpen het plaatje ook wel maar ik vind het zo fris en leuk dat zoiets dagelijks als de afbeelding op een pak melk kan inspireren tot een schilderij in de eetkamer. Van zoiets simpels kan ik heel vrolijk worden.


Qau verpakkingen doen ze het zowiezo heel leuk in Scandinavië. Vaak worden daar illustrators uitgenodigd om de meest vrolijke en leuke verpakkingen te maken. Daar kunnen producenten in Nederland nog iets van leren!


What a great painting! Of course the three cute blonde faces help making this photo but I really love how something so common and everyday as a pack of milk can inspire for a large painting in the diningroom. Something so simple can really make me smile.


The Scandinavians have very nice looking packing materials for food in the stores. Often illustrators are invited by producers to create nice designs for packaging. The producers in Holland should take a lesson from this!

Humor in je interieur

Humor is een belangrijk element in mijn interieur. Niet alles hoeft even serieus te zijn. De nieuwe muurstickers van Ferm LIVING vind ik dan ook helemaal leuk! Zoals hier met deze 'sewing kit' sticker. Ze geven dan ook de meest leuke tips als omtreklijnen op je auto of om je prullenbak.

Een headboard in de slaapkamer

Vind je het net teveel om een volledige wand in de slaapkamer te behangen, maak dan zo'n mooi headboard voor achter/boven je bed. Dit kan met behang maar eventueel ook met een mooie batik stof. Deze hebben ook vaak van die diepe tinten. Met behang is het mogelijk direct op de muur te plakken en een lijst eromheen te maken of te behangen op spaanplaat. Zorg er dan wel voor dat je deze eerst voorbehandeld hebt. Anders loop je het risico dat de plaat krom trekt.

Is an entire wall of wallpaper just a bit too much for your bedroom, than consider making a headboard like this one. It can be done with wallpaper but also with a nice batik. They ofter have deep colours. When using wallpaper you can glue this to the wall or use a thin wooden sheet. Then using the sheet make sure it is prepared well to prevent it going curved when the paint is dry.

Hoezo 'muursticker'

De Deense Ferm LIVING producten zijn ook een absolute hit in Amerika. Sterker nog, Tyra Banks heeft in een van haar shows een tafeltje gepimpt met een leuk Ferm LIVING behang! Om te zien wat ze daar allemaal bedenken is het leuk om een het blog www.fermliving.blogspot.com te bezoeken. Daar kwam ik ook deze afbeelding van de 'muursticker' op een winkelruit tegen. Helemaal leuk! Zo zie ik dan ook al helemaal de gebloemde muurstickers op een grote schuifpui naar de tuin zitten.

The Danish brand Ferm LIVING is a great hit in the USA. Tyra Banks has even used one of the wallpapers for a DIY table design in one of her shows. To see what the Americans do with the wallpaper you should visit www.fermliving.blogspot.com. This is also where I have found the picture above showing the 'wallsticker' lovebirds on the shopwindow. I love it! Now I can also see the flower wallsticker on a large glass door to the veranda.

Smalle wandplankjes

Voor mijn gevoel blijf ik een beetje hangen in de smalle wandplankjes maar ik ben er dan ook zo enthousiast over. Zoals hier bij deze woning van House of Pictures. Wederom de ideale plek om de leukste vakantiefoto's neer te zetten. Zo blijf je toch nog even wat langer in de sfeer.

With the risk of sounding like I'm constantly repeating myself I 'again' have a photo of a wall with small shelves. But only because I love them so much! This is an image from a home shown on House of Pictures. Again an ideal place to show your favourite holiday pictures. This allows you to stay in the holiday mood for a little while longer.

Vrolijke tienerkamer

Foto: Skona Hem Welke tiener wil nou niet zo'n kamer? Op zich niet heel groot. Maar vol frisse kleuren, veel lichtinval en vrolijke stofjes. Deze kamer zou geheel samengesteld kunnen zijn uit marktplaats vonsten. En door toevoeging van de juiste muurkleur en stofdecoraties is het een sfeervolle tienerkamer geworden. Zelf ben ik verzot op de smalle wandplankjes. Hier verzamel je favoriete boeken, kleine kunstwerkjes en foto's. Een leuke persoonlijke wand.

What teenager would't want a bedroom like this. Full of bright colours and cheerfull fabrics. All the furniture could have been collected at for instance Ebay. By adding the correct colour paint on the walls and fabric decorations it now is a beautiful and well combined teenage bedroom. Personally, I love the small shelves on the wall above the bed. An ideal place to gather your favourites like books, little paint projects and pictures. The perfect personal collage.

We're back!

Twee weken vakantie. Heerlijk genoten van ons buitenhuisje, een bruisende bruiloft gehad, en ons eigen huis helemaal op z'n kop gezet om kantoor en woonkamer om te wisselen. Zon gepakt, zonsondergangen bewonderd, goddelijke ijscoupes verorberd en genoten van de kleine geneugten van het leven. Afscheid moeten nemen van 8 vissen die in no time ons hart veroverd hadden. En dit alles afgesloten met nog een heerlijke middag op het strand.

En nu weer aan de slag! Vol nieuwe inspiratie en straks frisse collecties van onze merken. Zodra het kantoor weer op orde is (helaas is dit nog work in progress) dan gaat ook de collectie aangepast worden. We hebben volop plannen voor 2009. Mis het niet, blijf ons volgen!

After two weeks holiday, enjoying our summerhouse, been to a vibrant wedding and have turned our home upsite down in order to switch office and livingroom space, enjoying some sun at the beach, several sunsets, divine icecream desserts and enjoying the small joys in life it is now time to get back to work!
