Kids Tuesday.... is you're kid leaving the nest?

Kids grow up and kids leave the house. When they go to their first own place to stay they are excited. As a mother you are likely dreading the moment. However, let's shake that feeling off and give the kids a good start in their first home away from home. There are some pretty cool products available that can dress up their space to give a young vibrant yet homely feeling.

Small space living (assuming they don't end up in a villa straight away) can still hold some bold statement patterns. I love the graphic wallpaper from the new collection of Brian Yates. Combine this with a romantic feminine (affordable) print from Uniqe and you have a sweet contrast going on. I love the Ercol sofa's. No not the cheapest solution but it's nice to have a living room space you can transform to a sleeping situation in the evening.

Hello Friday.... take me to Palm Springs

School started again this week and although we had a 6 weeks holiday I missed the warm summer feeling. During the holidays I watched 'Our House Rules' Australia and saw a theme 'Palm Springs' pass by for a Townsville garden. That got me curious and after some research I came up with this as my version of the Palm Springs style. Hope you like it.

The accent feature on the fall are wooden tiles from the Australian brand Bonnie and Neal. And a couple of cactus prints are less prickly in your bedroom than an actual cactus. Seemed a better idea to me. The colour scheme of this moodboard is amazing. Good for a sweet holiday feeling to hang on to for the entire year.

Hello Friday - For the hopeless romantics with a desire for some glamorous design

I like to mix and match styles and textures. Starting point for this blog was the floral wallpaper. It asked for some additonal romantic but daring pieces to keep the excitement flowing. And some contrast with slick design for the furniture. All it needs in addition is a pretty wooden floor in just the right tone to compliment the style of the interior.

Difficult to find the right wallpaper? I hope by now my blog proves to be one where you can source a original selection of wallpapers. Still not happy with the options? Try websites such as Spoonflower where you can find a wide range of dessins by numerous illustrators. You can order either fabrics or wallpaper. Another similar site in Europe is Motiflow.

For furniture I tend to source the same websites but somehow this time I landed on the Roche Bobois site. Remember that brand from when I was young. Maybe my grandparents had a sofa from that brand. And this artwork! Wow what a stunner. It's a commercial print so easy on the wallet but definately a lust for the eye.

HK living will always find a warm spot in my heart. I love how this brand has developped and what an international succes it is. When I had my own online business they approached me to sell their wooden tables, serving platters and stools. At the time I didn't really see the potential so declined. Now I wish I could live in a at least 50% HK Living decorated home. Open invitation to this brand... knock on my door again please.

Kids Tuesday... 'mature' wallpapers for kids rooms are unexpected but a lot of fun!

This bedroom styling is definitely inspired by some room I've pinned on Pinterest. I see more and more usage of quite 'mature' wallpapers in kids room and I love it. Expect the unexpected is what makes a kids room stand out for me. And it's smart to use photo from a room you feel inspired by as a red line for the design of your own space. You'll always source items that fit your own taste or budget to make it a good fit for your family. Here I've used quite a few popular brands such as Numero74. You see them all over the internet but as long as you give the styling your own twist it's ok. Plus the choice of fabric and colour is spot on in their collection. Can't beat that!

And can I add one more little secret... The rug is by Lorena Canals and is designed so that you can wash it in your machine!! The looks of an antique berber with the comfort of being able to scrub off your kids spills in the room. Yay!!! sorry that kind of stuff excites me.

And don't forget.... machine washable!!! When in the Netherlands or Belgium visit the May and Fay shop (with free shipping). For International orders I would refer to the Lorena Canals website.
