A recent DIY

It was long before I had children of my own that I came across a little boy dressed up like an Astronaut. He had empty soda bottles on his back and over his head something that looked like a plastic fish bowl. Could hardly walk in his creation but I loved it so much that it has never left my mind. Now that my oldest is three I can create my own master piece. Specially since we had Carnaval mid February to celebrate.

As inspiration for my creation I chose a Pottery Barn store bought suit. Also looks amazing but I just like to DIY a bit. I took some garden equipment from my dad's shed, two empty soda bottles and neoprane fabric and some glitsy bright colours for finishing details.

Have to admit. I was really really stoked with the end result. And hoping hoping hoping that the three year old would wear it. Thank goodness he did and loved it just as much as I did.



I am now working on a 'no pattern' fireman jacket. I hope it will work out just as cute as this one. Can't wait to fill up his dress up wardrobe with all these cool little suits.

Some DIY advent making inspiration

I like all types of advent calenders. When I was a little girl we used to have the ones with tiny chocolates. That were never big enough nor did the days go by fast enough to get to the next one. Let alone get to Christmas!
Here are some modern colorful ideas that I found on Pinterest. The crystal ones are by Mr Printables, the Robots that would be great for a boys family is by Next to nicx, the confetti popper one by You are my fave, the colorful boxes by Studio DIY and finally the matchstick box one by Zoe de las cases.

A new DIY book on the block

Leuke DIY inspiratie: een krukje opleuken

Van een oud verloren krukje naar een leuke extra kruk voor aan tafel in slechts een paar stappen en een middagje werk. Kan dat? Ja zeker als je kijkt naar de eenvoudige stappen zoals gefotografeerd door BoligMagasinet. Deze krukjes kom je vaak nog wel tegen op een rommelmarkt en anders heb je er wellicht nog een verloren in de schuur of op zolder staan.

You can often find little stools like these at a thrift market or maybe you have a lost one in a barn or attic.

This spring pastel chairs for all

Sommigen zijn al jaren dol op stoelen in pastelkleuren. Anderen moeten nog wat aan het idee wennen en kunnen wel wat voorbeelden gebruiken om te zien hoe het in eigen interieur zou werken. Hier zijn wat van mijn favoriete inspiraties bij elkaar.

Some have loved pastel chairs for ages now. Others are new to the idea and still need to see some suggestions to see if it would work for their own interior. Here are a few of my favorites together.

Let start doing something with our pins on PINTEREST

 

Zoals velen van jullie weten ben ik een fan van Pinterest. Ik post de laatste tijd wat selectiever omdat ik na het verzamelen van meer dan 3700 pins niet meer zo goed wist wat ik aan het pinnen was. Nu heb ik het voornemen om minimaal iedere maand iets uit mijn pinboard 'creative inspirations' en 'food inspirations' te maken. Bovenstaande stof met borduur accent heb ik gepind vanuit het SweetPaul magazine. En laten we nou nog een extra set dekbedden nodig hebben. Bij IKEA kwam ik onlangs de Emmie Land dekbedden met vergelijkbare print tegen. Dus hopelijk na wat avondjes borduren op de bank zal ik mijn eigen versie van mijn gepinde inspiratie hebben.

As many of you know I am a huge Pinterest fan. Only lately I don't pin as much as I used to. After posting over 3700 pins I started to wonder what I was going to do with all that collected inspiration. Now I've got the intention to make or create one pin a month from my 'creative inspirations' pinboard and one from my 'food inspirations' pinboard. The one you see above with the embroidered linnen is a pin from the SweetPaul magazine. And what do you know... we need an extra set bedsheets. Recently I saw this Emmie Land pattern at IKEA. So hopefully after a few nights of embroidery on the sofa I will have created my own version of this pinned inspiration.

Screen printing with Rachel Castle

Oh kon ik maar in het scherm duiken om bij zo'n geweldige screen printing les van Rachel Castle te zijn. Ze doet deze voor het Australische The School. Als je vaker op mijn blog bent geweest dan weet je dat ik een groot fan van haar werk ben. Strakke lijnen, heldere kleuren en fijne vormen. Sorry dat er nu alweer een Australische inspiratie post is. Maar je weet hoe dat soms gaat als je online bezig bent. Als je een pad van inspiratie volgt en doorklikt vind je het ene na het andere waar je hart sneller van gaat kloppen.
I love these images from the screen printing courses done by Rachel Castle for The School. If you read my blog on a regular basis you know I'm a huge fan of her work. So crisp and clean and full of color. Sorry that I have taken a turn to the Australian inspirations. But you know how it works online. If you follow a direction you keep finding great things. I'm sure there will be some Scandinavian additions real soon.

Veel van mijn Instagram contacten zijn gegrepen door de verslaving van pompoms van garen maken. Daar vormen ze dan weer een kleurrijke vrolijke slinger van voor op een kinderkamer of in de woonkamer. Al lees ik wel dat daar vaak een mannelijk veto bij wordt uitgesproken. Hier een suggestie wat je kunt doen met restanten garen die je na de pompoms over houdt. Neem vaasjes, potjes en flesjes en draai daar garen omheen.
Many of my Instagram contacts are hooked on making yarn pompoms. They put them together forming a colourful garland for a kidsroom or sometimes the livingroom. But most of the time that gets a veto of the resident males in the house. Here's a suggestion of what you can do with your left over yarn. Use a vase, bottle or jar and glue the yarn on it.

Ik ben dol op fijne opberg mogelijkheden en ook op een persoonlijke touch. Dus je kunt je wel voorstellen dat ik nogal enthousiast werd van deze beelden van de Real Living website. I love a good storage solution and I love DIY additions so you can imagine my excitement when I saw these images at the Real Living magazine website. P is for PLANT

Het eerste wat je opvalt als je aankomt in Singapore is hoe groen het wel niet is. Overal zie je de meest mooie tropische beplanting. Zeker nadat je uit het laat winterende Nederland komt. Dit heeft me geinspireerd jullie deze P is voor PLANT blogpost te brengen. De mooie beelden zijn van het DIY inspiratie board van House of Pictures uit Denemarken.

Being in Singapore now means being surrounded by lushious greens. Something I was longing for when still in Holland with the winter dragging all the way through spring. This inspired me to do this P is for PLANT blogpost. The beautiful pictures are by House of Pictures in Denmark from their DIY inspirations.

A nice headboard DIY by Isabelle McAllister

We all know I'm a fan from the DosFamily website. I miss their house tours but I love watching some of the clips by Isablle McAllister. Seen many of the over the top make overs of kids rooms done with the little room owners. And also really like this DIY headboard she's done for TV. It reminds me of the beautiful Poldersofa by Hella Jongerius. Click on the image below to find this clip. Hopefully I will be able to make something like this just by watching. My Swedish is not at all good.

Lekker knutselen voor het voorjaar

Daar het voorjaar me buiten een beetje in de steek laat met weer sneeuw ben ik maar online gaan zoeken naar het voorjaar gevoel. Van site naar site naar site ben ik terecht gekomen op het blog van A Stubtle Revelry waar ik deze fantastische zelf gemaakt rozentak zag. Ik weet niet of ik zelf snel voor de combinatie met kaarsen zou gaan. Denk dat ik er mooie theelichtjes omheen zou zetten.

As spring is not really happening outside (yet) I chose to search for it online. Jumping from one site to the other following some amazing links I found myself on the A Subtle Reverly blog where I saw this amazing DIY roze branch. Must admit I wouldn't make the combination with the candle (too much a chicken) but I would chose some beautiful vovits.

Table decorations DIY

Het lijkt wel of deze december maand vol staat met give aways en leuke DIYs. Maar die kom je dan ook zoveel tegen online. Wederom bij Going home to roost kwam ik deze gebleekte kerstboompjes tegen. Wat een super idee om die toch wel wat standaard boompjes (niks mis mee, ik heb ze ook) een wat modernere twist te geven. Super last minute idee voor een fijne decoratie van je kerst tafel. I seems my blog just fills up with give aways and cute DIYs this December. But I keep finding all these great ideas online. Such as this 'bleeched Christmastrees' again from Going home to roost. I also have some of these standard trees and would love to update them by something as simple as a water and bleech bath. Make sure you visit their site for the full 'how to'.

Moon Pinata by Oh Happy Day

Wat een decoratief en leuk idee om een Pinata te maken voor kerst. Zeker als het ook nog zo'n mooie is. Ontwerp en beelden zijn van Oh Happy Day. En zij maken vaker pinatas kijk maar.
