Ook fan van fijne kleurtjes en leuke prints. Kijk dan eens bij TOVE, de website van Zweedse ontwerpster Tove Johansson. Nu nog met name werkzaam in opdracht van anderen maar er is een eigen webshop onderweg. Iets om zeker in de gaten te houden!

Ik was al zo'n fan van de Blossom en Bill trays van Isak en daar kunnen deze geweldige houten snijplankjes van het Finse NAMA aan toegevoegd worden. En vergeet niet ook op het NAMA blog te kijken waar je getrakteerd wordt op nog meer fijne foto's en inspiraties.

Na nu zo'n twee maanden in Singapore te hebben gewoond ben ik ergens achter gekomen. Ik heb een vrij serieuze Marktplaats verslaving. Vaak is het even kijken zonder echt parels te spotten maar onlangs kwam ik een vergelijkbaar spijlenbankje tegen voor slechts € 85,-. Dat was wel even slikken. In Nederland wonend had ik niet geaarzeld en direct de adverteerder gemaild om een afspraak te maken. Maar ja, ik woon nu hier en hoe leuk en betaalbaar zo'n bankje ook mag zijn voor het hier is ben ik een kapitaal verder. Dus ik tipte mijn lieve blogvriendin Yvestown die ook neus heeft voor beauties en me al vrij snel via Instagram liet weten dat de buit binnen was. Na wat verder speurwerk is ook de ontwerper bekend: Yngve Ekstrom waar ik voor vertrek nog wel de Arka stoel van heb weten te bemachtigen. Gelukkig heeft Yvonne me verzekerd dat ik mag logeren op het bankje (de hele 1,20 meter breed!) en dat we time sharing kunnen doen mocht ik weer ooit terug naar Nederland verhuizen. Haar nieuwe aanwinst is rood en ik ben benieuwd of ze em een Yvestown sausje gaat geven.
After living in Singapore for two months now I've discovered that I have a Marktplaats (dutch Craigslist) addiction. I still often quickscan this website to see if I can find little hidden treasures. Usually not much but recently I came across this little sofa for only 85 euros. OEPS! If I would still be in Holland I wouldn't hesitate and email the owner to make an oppointment for a swift pick up. But now I'm looking at this from a distance and although it was affordable and close to where my parents live it would have been a fortune to have it shipped to Singapore. So I quickly emailed my dear blogfriend Yvestown who also didn't live far from this little gem. Soon she posted this picture on Instagram with a big thank you for the tip all the way from Singapore. After discovering it is a Yngve Ekstrom (by whom I have an Arka Chair) I'm very jealous. But she assured me that I'm welcome to sleep on it whenever I come to visit (it's 1,20 meter wide...) and we can time share if I ever move back to the Netherlands. Her new little sofa is red and I'm curious to find out if she will treat it with her usual Yvestown styling.

A treasure hunt made easier

Zo fijn dat de successen van vroeger weer opnieuw uitgevoerd worden. Dat maakt het makkelijker om gewilde items in je bezit te krijgen voor vaak ook een schappelijkere prijs. Zo heb ik gezien dat de Tomado boekenrekjes weer in productie zijn genomen (site blijft wel een beetje gedateerd). En op Scandinavische sites zie je steeds vaker de schalen van Arne Clausen voor Cathrineholm terugkomen. Dat is te danken aan Lucie Kaas. Een Deens design bedrijf welke een selectie van de meest populaire Scandinavische ontwerpen uit de jaren  '50, '60 en '70 in herproductie hebben genomen. Dit gaan we vast binnenkort ook in de Nederlandse winkels tegenkomen (nu nog niet dus retailers dit is een gouden tip!). En het zijn niet alleen de geweldige lotus schalen, ook fijne houten dieren van Gunnar Fløring en de vrolijke eierdopjes van Bordfolk.

It's so great that the succesful designs from the early days are being relaunched today. Makes it easier to obtain some of these treasures and often for a more reasonable price. Like the Tomado bookshelves (site is still a bit dated but oh well). And visiting Scandinavian websites I keep seeing these bowls that were designed by Arne Clausen for Cathrineholm. Thanks to a company called Lucie Kaas. They're responsable for the relaunch of some of the most popular Scandinavian designs from the '50, '60 and '70's. I'm sure we'll see more of this as it will spread the globe. And it's not only the great lotus bowls that were relaunched. Also the wooden animals by Gunnar Fløring and the happy eggholders by Bordfolk.

Lovely new products at Littlephant

Er is weer veel mooi nieuws te spotten bij Littlephant van Camilla Lundsten. Zo mooi om te zien hoe haar collectie ieder seizoen weer groeit met nieuwe prints en nieuwe producten. Je moet ook zeker even door haar catalogus bladeren om de confetti theepot te zien. Die, de stoffen en veel van de kids collectie doen mijn hart sneller kloppen.
There are so many nice new things to see in the new Littlephant by Camilla Lundsten catalogue. Love to see her collection grow bigger and more beautiful with each new season. Make sure to check out her catalogue so you can find the confetti teapot that I've lost my heart to. That, the fabrics and much of the kids collection are my new favorites.

Table love

Groeide er maar geld op mijn rug. Niet teveel want dan kun je ook niet meer genieten van aankopen maar net even genoeg om zonder na te denken deze Normann Copenhagen block bijzettafel in de kleur mint te kopen. 

I wish I could have some money growing on my back. Not too much so that you wouldn't enjoy your purchases anymore but just enough to run off and buy this beautiful Normann Copenhagen block table in mint without a second thought. 

Requests from the cupboard

In mijn collectie Scandinavisch servies heb ik zowel vintage als nieuw. En een mix van Figgjo, Marimekko, Arabia, Porsgrund en Iittala. Veel daarvan is zwart/wit en nou hoor ik steeds vanuit mijn kast de roep om deze geweldige nieuwe Piilopaikka print aan de verzameling toe te voegen. Uit de 2013 collectie van Arabia. Ik ga maar eens in de winkel zoeken. Misschien zo'n kan en een serveer schaal.
In my collection of Scandinavian tableware I have both vintage and new items. A mix of brands such as Figgjo, Marimekko, Arabia, Porsgrund and Iittala. Many of them are black and white and now I keep hearing requests from my cupboard to add this Piilopaikka print to the collection. From the 2013 collection of Arabia. Must see if I can find it at a local store. Maybe a jug and a serving dish.

Dé Mademoiselle

Iedere keer als ik deze stoel voorbij zie komen ben ik weer blij dat ik naar de andere kant van het land ben gereden om hem via marktplaats op te halen. De Mademoiselle stoel van Tapiovaara is in het echt nog veel mooier dan op alle foto's.
Every time I see this chair in a photo I'm so pleased that I drove to the other side of The Netherlands to pick it up from a Marktplaats (Dutch craigslist) find. The Mademoiselle chair by Tapiovaara is even more beautiful than the pictures can show.

Eens een stoel poot...

Pas dit jaar afgestudeerd aan de Bergen National Academy of the Arts en nu al zo'n prachtige ontwerpen in productie genomen door Discipline. De Re Turned vogels zijn gemaakt van 100% gerecycled Noors hout. Dus eens dienst gedaan als stoel poot, tafel blad of deur en nu met liefde bewerkt tot een mooie design vogel. Er zijn verschillende prachtige modellen die je nu al kunt bewonderen op de site van Lars Beller.
Only just gratuated from the Bergen National Academy of the Arts and already having a few very beautiful products taken in production by Discipline. Kunst aan de muur

Waarom dit soort decoraties alleen met kerst ophangen? De drie hangers boven de lamp doen wel sterk denken aan de houten hangers van Ferm LIVING. We hebben ze in een bal en een ui model, in zwart, wit en naturel hout. 

Beautiful pendant hangers such as these are available in our shop. Just look at the Xmas collection by Ferm LIVING. Why only hang these in the December month? As you can see in this bedroom you can use them all year around! We have them in two designs and three colours (black, white and natural).

Nieuwe design klassiekers?

Vaak vraag ik mezelf af, welke items van nu zijn de klassiekers van straks? Deze stoelen zijn prachtig van vorm en kleur. Ze zijn wat mij betreft een goede kandidaat. Je kunt de hele collectie zien op de site van Gubi.

I often wonder what will be the classic designs of the future? These chairs by Gubi are beautiful both by shape and colours. As far as I am conserned they are a good contestant.

En toen was er licht.... uhm, kaarslicht.

Handig én prachtig in een. Een wandplankje met een lampje voor als je licht nodig hebt en een kaarsenhouder voor als je sfeer wilt. Briljant gevonden. Zoiets zou je naast je bed moeten hebben.
Practical and beautiful all in one. A little shelve with a lightbulb for when light is needed for reading and a candle holder for when you want atmosphere. Everyone should have one of these next to their bed.

Zweed meubels - mooi en modulair

Hoe geweldig zijn deze meubels van het Zweedse meubelmerk Zweed! Naar wens en gebruik in te delen en vervaardigd uit puur vakmanschap. De lage variant met her en der deurtjes zou mijn favoriet zijn voor een tv kastje. 

How great are these cabinets by the Zwedish furniture brand Zweed. I love the low one and would use this as a tv cabinet. Those are usually so ugly and this one I LOVE!

Servies sparen

Ik ben aan het sparen. Niet in klinkende euros zoals het eigenlijk zou moeten maar in dit prachtige Marimekko servies. Gisteren kwam een bestelling binnen uit Frankrijk. Waarom daar? Hun behang was een stuk goedkoper dan in Nederlandse online winkels. Zelfs met verzendkosten.
Nou hoop ik dat scherven geluk brengen want mijn mooie nieuwe schaal met zwarte stippen kwam in 6 stukken aan.
I'm saving. Not money as I probably should but this Marimekko kitschen collection. Yesterday an order I did arrived from France. Why buy Scandinavian tableware in France you wonder? Their wallpaper was much cheaper than in the Netherlands (20 euro difference). Even with shipment costs.
The thing is, my serving dish with black dots arrived broken in 6 pieces. So I hope it will bring me some luck.

Cadeau van mijn moeder

Als jonge 18-jarige is mijn moeder alleen naar Noorwegen geweest. Daar heeft ze een aantal mooie bordjes gekocht. Een set van Figgjo (zoals afbeelding) en een setje van Porsgrund (vis schaaltjes). Als ontzettende Scandinavië lover heb ik onlangs haar schaaltjes gekregen. Niet helemaal compleet meer, misschien wat gesneuveld of op een andere plek opgeborgen. Als de 'dames' uit de Figgjo serie nog tevoorschijn komen dan komen die ook nog. En ik ben daar O ZO BLIJ mee!


As a young 18 year old my mom made a visit to Norway. There she bought these Figgjo plates. Last week she gave these and some Porsgrund plates to me. As I am such a Scandinavia lover. And this makes me so very very very pleased. The girls in the Figgjo series are missing. May have broken in the years past or maybe just misplaced. Hopefully the last cause if they do turn up they will be reunited with the boys at my house.
