I am a dreamer. I dream of having enough time to continue my blog. I dream of beautiful colonial black and white houses and cannot stop myself visiting open houses every Saturday. And after I visit them I always start decorating them in my mind. Young kids have imaginary friends, I have imaginary houses. And decorating them becomes more and more easy with all these amazing brands and stores you come across on Instagram.

This is a cactus that happily combines with my toddler

Did you fill up your home with a cactus last year? I was tempted but aside from a few really small ones from IKEA I resisted. Too worried that I would end up hurting my adventurous exploring toddler son. Visiting the website of Sydney based prop buyer and interior stylist Briar Stanley I came across this post with these prints of paintings. They are by Art and People from Brooklyn USA and you can find them on Etsy. Now those are cacti I can happily combine with my wandering toddler at a very friendly price. 

Very stylish and very functional, the Booksee shelves

Meet the BOOKSEE. A new product from the collection of Ubabub. We love the BOOKSEE as it delivers what it says... you can see the book when it is on the shelf. Kids books often have amazing covers that you want to display them. An easy and quick solution for many has been the spice racks by IKEA (including in our home) but this is definately a more stylish option.

Meet HOME-WORK (in the making)

There will be a new kid on the block in Australia, HOME-WORK. Beautiful products of fabrics designed by Lara Davies and Jess Wright and all printed and produced in Melbourne Australia. Personally I totally fell in love with their 'Scrarabian Nights' pillowcases and the gold foil toilet bag.
In order to not take to much risk in with this new venture Lara and Jess had opened an account on Pozible, a crowdfunding creativity site. You could place your pre-orders of your favorites products. This would guarantee them quick payments to their suppliers and a way to fund the expensive start up costs of printing. A great idea as not only do you create funding, you also create a buzz and a group of ambassadors for your new brand.
As production is in full swing at the moment all we can do is sign up for the newletter, follow on Instagram for behind the scenes photos and WAIT.

Let's get merry, I'm opening the season for Christmas

I know it's early to start talking about Christmas. But living in Singapore makes it a reality that you are well into the Christmas carols, decorations and sweets mid November. And there is no harm in getting organized and screening the web for the best presents. Even if they have to come from the other side of the world...
My sister bought this beanbag which made me curious about the rest of the products from this Australian brand. Mozi has a bit of an traditional English feel to me but with products that are just a little bit different. Combined with modern items they will stand out. Like the sailor and siren salt and pepper grinders. All and all they make cute Christmas presents and as we're still ahead of December there's time to ship it from Australia.

And there is also their vintage christmas collection. With very cute melamine plates, kids aprons and a wrapping paper book. Must admit I'm quite excited about that last one.

Long distance decorations shopping

Vorig jaar woonde mijn zus nog in Brisbane Australië. Toen ik haar ging opzoeken was Country Road een van de vele fijne winkels die ik met haar bezocht. Als je de winkel binnen loopt is het in eerste instantie een kleding winkel. Dat ze zoveel geweldige woonaccessoires hebben was me daar nog niet eens goed opgevallen. Dat wat van ver komt en onbereikbaar is maakt meestal extra hebberig. Goed nieuws! Country Road levert naar veel verschillende landen waaronder ook Nederland en Singapore.
Last year my sister was still living in Brisbane Australia. When visiting her we went to several nice stores and Country Road was one of them. Entering the store the first impression is more of a fashion shop than interior. Whatever comes from abroad and seems out of reach most of the times makes extra desirable. Good news! Country Road does international delivery to many countries amongst which the Netherlands and Singapore.

Scandinavian style in Australia

Dit is het huis van Australische stylist Simone Haag. Ik volg haar op Instagram en het is dan ook heel leuk zo'n mooie foto's van haar op diverse sites tegen te komen. Ik bleef hangen omwille van de 'For Like Ever' poster. Wil al een tijdje zo'n mooie poster en hoop er ook eentje mee te nemen naar Singapore. This is the home of Australian stylist Simone Haag. I have been following her on Instagram for a while now and it's nice to come across so many of her images at several sites. I stuck to this one because of the 'For Live Ever' poster in the background. Have got my eye on this poster for a while now and hope to be able to take one to Singapore with me. For the love of a good vintage poster

Kijkend op mijn Pinterest board 'GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS' kwam ik dit beeld van een vintage poster met een schattig roze bankje tegen. Het huis is van styliste Heather Nette King en stond vermeld op het blog The Design Files. Helaas kom ik zelden zo'n mooie vintage posters van dat formaat tegen. Is me een keer overkomen in Zwitserland waar ik na me te hebben verloofd een mooie poster die ik her en der ter decoratie had gezien als souvenir mee wilde nemen. Helaas was de poster Arosa Girl met z'n 400 euro vrij stevig van prijs en heb ik em achter gelaten. Bij het artikel op het blog The Design Files staat een link en die bracht me op de Australische site Vintage Posters Only. Helaas niet met prijzen vermeld maar wel met een indrukwekkende collectie en posters van formaat. Mocht er een keertje een voorbij komen waarbij ik denk 'OEH!' dan ga ik nog maar eens informeren. Wie niet waagt, wie niet wint.
Looking through my Pinterest board 'GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS' I came across this image by The Design Files of a hallway with a cute pink sofa and an amazing vintage poster (home owner was stylist Heather Nette King). Unfortunately I never come across these posters in real life. And when I do (had it once in Switzerland where I wanted to buy the Arosa Girl poster as we got engaged that week) they are at least 400 euros. I followed the link in the blogpost by The Design Files and that brought me to the Australian site Vintage Posters Only. No prices mentioned there but the collection and measurement of the posters are impressive. Maybe something to look into if I come across a print I just cannot resist.

Deze week begin ik met een binnenkijker bij Kirra Jamison, een designer die we allemaal moeten leren kennen. Ze maakt prachtige frisse werken met fijne kleuren. Zou heel graag een kunstwerk van haar in huis hebben. Ook haar huis is een geweldige bron van inspiratie. Een fijne mix van oude en nieuwe items aangevuld met goed design (en dan weer net wel in fijne kleurtjes). Deze serie komt uit het blad FOUR magazine welke in beperkte oplage wordt uitgegeven via winkels in Charlotte (USA). This week I would like to start a little peak in the home of Kirra Jamison, a great artist that we all should get to know. She makes amazing artwork with bright colors. I would love to have one of her artworks decorate our home. Her own house is also a great source of inspiration. A happy mix of old and new items combined with good design (of course again in desirable colors). This publication is from FOUR magazine. A quarterly publication that you can find in shops and galleries in Charlotte (USA). If you're not from that area there is a way to subscribe or order the latest issue via Bigcartel.

My mothersday gift

Eindelijk heb ik een winkeltje gevonden in Singapore die het Australische woonblad RealLiving verkoopt (mam kan je geloven dat het inderdaad dat winkeltje om de hoek was in Holland Village). Dus nu weet ik wat ik ga uitzoeken voor moederdag. Net als vorig jaar heb ik een bedrag gekregen waarvoor ik mezelf met iets moois mag verwennen. De komende maanden kan ik dan zeker dit blad blijven kopen. Kijk er naar uit om me te laten inspireren met veel moois uit Australie. En zoals je aan de cover kunt zien laten zij zich ook prima inspireren vanuit de Scandinavische woonstijl en het design.
Finally I've found a shop that sells the RealLiving magazine (mom can you believe it was that one around the corner in Holland Village). So here is my treat yourself mothersday gift. I got a gift voucher saying I can look for something I like. And now I'll be able to get this magazine for many months to come. Looking forward to some Australian inspirations. As you can see by the cover they flirt with the Scandinavian thought of decorating and design a lot.

A dose of Friday eye candy

Soms heb je net even wat minder inspiratie om te bloggen. Je wilt niet 'gewoon' maar iets plaatsen om de dag weer op te vullen. Nee, ik verwen jullie liever met fijne beelden. Daarom ben ik ook blij dat ik gewacht heb tot dit moment. Zojuist heb ik styliste Rachel Vigor gevonden en zij heeft in de fijnste huizen mogen werken. Mooie kleuren, grappige details en unieke producten strelen deze vrijdag het oog.

Sometimes I lack the inspiration to post a blog. I don't want to just fill up the day by posting anything. No I much rather spoil you with beautiful images. That's why I'm happy that I've waited until this moment. I've just discovered the site of Rachel Vigor and she's been able to work in some amazing homes. Beautiful colors, quirky details and unique products are our dose of Friday eye candy.

Invloeden van Australische woonstijl

Sorry maar nu ik hier woon (in de warmte van Singapore) zal ik naast het Scandinavische ook iets verder kijken op interieur gebied. Gelukkig kan ik ook heel veel inspiratie vinden in de Australische woonstijl omdat deze inhaakt op het Scandinavische. Veel licht, neutrale basis en fijne accessoires met kleur. Zo ook bij dit huis in Bondi, een cottage in een wijk van Sydney.
I'm sorry but as I'm living in a warm climate now (Singapore) I will be looking further than just the Scandinavian interior style. Luckely I can also find a lot of inspiration in the Australian style since it really resembles the Scandinavian one. Lots of light, a neutral basis and fun accessories with color. Like you see in this home. A cottage in Bondi, a suburb of Sydney.

Screen printing with Rachel Castle

Oh kon ik maar in het scherm duiken om bij zo'n geweldige screen printing les van Rachel Castle te zijn. Ze doet deze voor het Australische The School. Als je vaker op mijn blog bent geweest dan weet je dat ik een groot fan van haar werk ben. Strakke lijnen, heldere kleuren en fijne vormen. Sorry dat er nu alweer een Australische inspiratie post is. Maar je weet hoe dat soms gaat als je online bezig bent. Als je een pad van inspiratie volgt en doorklikt vind je het ene na het andere waar je hart sneller van gaat kloppen.
I love these images from the screen printing courses done by Rachel Castle for The School. If you read my blog on a regular basis you know I'm a huge fan of her work. So crisp and clean and full of color. Sorry that I have taken a turn to the Australian inspirations. But you know how it works online. If you follow a direction you keep finding great things. I'm sure there will be some Scandinavian additions real soon.

Veel van mijn Instagram contacten zijn gegrepen door de verslaving van pompoms van garen maken. Daar vormen ze dan weer een kleurrijke vrolijke slinger van voor op een kinderkamer of in de woonkamer. Al lees ik wel dat daar vaak een mannelijk veto bij wordt uitgesproken. Hier een suggestie wat je kunt doen met restanten garen die je na de pompoms over houdt. Neem vaasjes, potjes en flesjes en draai daar garen omheen.
Many of my Instagram contacts are hooked on making yarn pompoms. They put them together forming a colourful garland for a kidsroom or sometimes the livingroom. But most of the time that gets a veto of the resident males in the house. Here's a suggestion of what you can do with your left over yarn. Use a vase, bottle or jar and glue the yarn on it.

Misschien niet de beste foto's maar my o my wat zijn dit fijne prints en kleuren voor een dekbed overtrek. Lekker vrolijk en niet te serieus. Ze komen uit een studio in Melbourne waar ik alweer zeker een jaar fan van ben: Harvest Workroom. Bezoek ook zeker hun bigcartel winkel.
